Corning Gorilla Glass Victus presented

The new Corning Gorilla Glass Victus was launched. It is the successor to Gorilla Glass 6, i.e. version 7 under a new name.

There has been a problem with the Gorilla Glass versions of recent years. The better it was protected against scratches, the more susceptible it was to breakage. Version 7 aka Victus is said to provide the best protection against scratches AND breaks.

Even from a height of 2 meters, a fall should no longer affect the glass. Of course, independent tests have to prove that first.

Gorilla Glass Victus Features

  • Thickness: 0.4mm – 1.2mm
  • Improved drop performance, up to 2 m
  • High resistance to scratches and sharp contact damage
  • High residual strength after use
  • Superior surface quality
  • Lower softening point compared to Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and Corning Gorilla Glass 6

The new advantage of Gorilla Glass Victus is the ability to survive drop tests from a height of 2 meters while improving the scratch threshold of the glass to 7-10 Newtons, which is 4x better than competing Al-Si glass.

The Corning Gorilla Glass Victus will be used for the first time on the new Samsung Galaxy Note 20.
