The Ministry of Health announced today that people who will not cover their mouth and nose in public will need to carry a certificate with clear medical contraindications. No more translations made up for the moment.
Janusz Cieszyński, Deputy Minister of Health, informed during a joint conference with Minister Łukasz Szumowski that from September 1, every person who will not cover their face in places where such an order is currently in force will have to carry a medical certificate confirming contraindications for covering the mouth and nose.
Minister @SzumowskiLukasz in #MZ : I appeal to all Poles to respect the sanitary regime, maintain social distance and cover their mouth and nose to avoid increasing restrictions. #koronawirus

Covering your face or a certificate – no more inventing stories
The information on the planned introduction of such a provision has already been provided today so that every person who actually has such contraindications has time to arrange the appropriate certificate.
At the same time, informing about the planned changes, the deputy minister of health stressed that the ministry’s experts were convinced that there were not too many medical contraindications, and therefore few people should actually receive such a certificate. Health Minister just a week ago, in an interview on Polsat TV , Health Minister Łukasz Szumowski said
It must be clearly emphasized that there is no such thing as medical contraindications for covering the mouth and nose.
Currently, the obligation to wear masks applies to closed rooms in public spaces: shops, cinemas, gyms, theaters. From Saturday, however, additional restrictions will apply in 19 counties in the country, including obligation to wear masks everywhere in public spaces.
Minister @SzumowskiLukasz in #MZ : in the so-called In the red counties (9 counties), we are introducing the obligation to wear masks everywhere in the public space. #koronawirus

The Ministry of Health is sending out conflicting signals
Looking at social behavior, it can now be said that we have abandoned all precautionary measures. Seaside resorts are full of sunbathers, mountain trails are full of trekking enthusiasts. Fewer and fewer people are also covering their mouths and noses in stores and shopping centers. While this can be blamed on the ignorance of a large part of society, there is another important factor to note.
Government officials and health ministries are constantly sending out conflicting signals.
Just before the presidential election, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki assured that the virus was already in retreat, we do not have to be afraid of it and that everyone can easily go to the elections. A few days ago, President Andrzej Duda said that he encouraged the wearing of masks, but "not everyone can, not everyone likes it". Two days ago, we learned that on September 1, children will go to school as normal and will not have to wear any masks during classes or breaks.
Today there is information about additional exacerbations in individual poviats and about the obligation to have a certificate by people who have contraindications to wearing masks (although the health minister said that they do not exist), and on the Internet the ministry encourages not only wearing masks, but also remote work wherever possible.

Such an accumulation of contradictions causes the society to believe that no one in the ministry really knows what to say and that all recommendations are made up to date. It is no wonder then that seeing such a huge lack of any competence or any strategy, people stop listening and do what they think is reasonable. However, we can be sure that this situation will not lead to anything good.
